In their Science lessons pupils find out about the world by acting as a scientist. They learn the ways in which the universe works, and how this relates to the fields of Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, as well as the nature of evidence and of uncertainty.  In Science pupils learn to study the world through systematic wonder, and to explain the influence of Science upon society.

Key Stage 3

In Key Stage 3 pupils are encouraged to learn Scientific skills through practical work, and follow the national curriculum. They study the following topics in each year:

Future uses of Science education

Science, and the development of the understanding of evidence and certainty, is vital in students’ capacity to understand the modern world and make informed decisions. Science also teaches the organisation of thoughts and problem solving. It can also lead to many careers. Some of which include:
Archaeologist; Biologist; Chemist; Doctor; Engineer; Farming; Geologist; Haematologist; Inventor; Journalism. There are also many careers for which Science is helpful. These include:
Sports trainer; Beautician; Diver and many others.
